Tips on Sound Sleep

• Just like a day is planned, even the night should be planned. Have a bath, take one cup of any hot beverage, switch of the television/laptop and prepare for bedding, listen to some soothing music and close eyes planning the next day in mind. All this leads to relaxation of the mind and a sound sleep.

• Change the ambience of the bedroom to one that is more suited for sleep. Sleeping with the television switched on can actually lead to disrupting sleeping patterns.

• Keep away from all noise, chats and lights to prepare for a sound sleep. Ensure that one sleeps between 9.30 pm and 11.30 pm. Research shows that people who tend to sleep well before midnight stand a better chance of getting disturbance-free sleep.

• It is important for one to know that the actual sleep is what one gets after one hour of physically entering thesleeping phase. Therefore, try to get into the bed almost one hour thirty minutes before one plans to sleep without disturbance. The first thirty minutes go in preparing to sleep and the next one hour goes in the transition from physical sleep to the actual sleep. This way one ensures perfect, sound sleep for the number of hours needed. Additionally, note that 8 hours of mental sleep is what doctors recommend for a healthy body and soul.

• Keep a minimum time gap of 90 minutes between dinner and going to sleep. Also, keeping the dinner light, small and with less-calorie food items involved favors better and sound sleep. Heavy meals in the night are said to disturb one’s sleeping pattern.

Following these tips, one can ensure the sleeping pattern at night is not disturbed and one gets complete 8 hours of sound sleep. A perfect sound sleep at night is important for proper functioning of the body the next day and keeps one full of energy and zeal.
